Enclosures avoid the sound propagation in the immediate vicinity of the noise source. Compared to other possibilities of sound reduction, e.g. the attachment of sound absorbers to the walls and the ceilings, not only the diffuse sound pressure level in the room is reduced. Under the constraints of professional design, also the emission sound pressure level can be lowered drastically. So, the mean dose rate of noise, a worker is exposed in the near of a machine, is reduced considerably.
